Kerala Samajam - Bangalore - An Overview
Kerala Samajam - Bangalore, is the foremost Malayalee Cultural and Social Organization started in the year 1940 and has been contributing in the field of education and social service.
In the early days, Bangalore was the hub of Public Sector Units, employing people from all parts of the country. Kerala Samajam - Bangalore was then started as an organization that primarily helped malayalees who came to Bangalore seeking career opportunities. In the initial days, the Samajam helped them even with logistical help in terms of shelter, food, etc. As the members and the activities grew, the Samajam started playing a bigger role in community building including setting up schools, conducting cultural and social activities to foster greater bonding amongst the malayalees.
As the malayalees in Bangalore have contributed equally to the growth of the city, the Samajam has grown along and has been the source of all the other Kerala / Malayalee cultural and social organizations that have come up in Bangalore in the recent past - the mother of all other Samajams and associations in Bangalore. Today, Kerala Samajam, as the nodal entity in Bangalore, coordinates with many activities of the zonal offices.
Keeping in spirit of culture and community building, Kerala Samajam - Bangalore, looks forward to contributing in bigger ways to Bangalore and help malayalees integrate in to the mainstream. |
